Peace be upon you
Inna lilahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon. "Verily we belong to Allah, and to Allah we return." (Quran 2:156) Yesterday was a sad day in Muslim American history; one of our leaders and true mentors passed away. Imam Warith Deen Mohammed passed away on September 9th 2008, the 9th day of Ramadan. Imam W.D. Mohammed as he was commonly known gave the first invocation in the U.S. Senate ever by a Muslim. In 1993, he gave an Islamic prayer during the first Inaugural Interfaith Prayer Service of President Bill Clinton, and again in 1997 at the second Interfaith Prayer Service. He helped thousands of people become Muslim after breaking away from the Nation of Islam. He helped spread the true teachings of Islam and preached for peace and understanding. Young Muslims sends its prayers and condolences out to the family of Imam Warith Deen Mohammed and pray that Allah grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous. We ask God in His Name alone; He Who has no partners, and pray for Peace upon all His Prophets. And Praise be to God, the Lord of the Worlds.
